Kids Play Math
Kids Play Math is a University of Denver Mathematics Department grant project, led by Alvaro Arias and Mario Lopez. It is devoted to developing Flash games that teach math concepts to children aged 3-6. I produced artwork and animations for the following:
Hula hoops--an in-development game in which the characters toss bean bags onto an arrangement of hula hoops on the floor. They then complete counting tasks related the colors and orientations of the bean bags relative to the hoop(s).
Monkey counting--an in-development game based on a popular rhyme in which monkeys tease a crocodile and the crocodile snaps at them, slowly reducing their numbers. (In this version, the monkeys escape.)
Disassembling--a game in which the player is presented with an arrangement of shapes, which are removed by being matched to like shapes. Once the figure underneath is revealed, a short animation plays. (Selected animations with sound are available to view below.)
